Story overview – Episode one: The Curtain Rises
In a worn theatre, seven strangers gather around a mysterious script, uncertain of their names and purpose. Among them are The Child, a joyful wooden figure; Embrace, quietly longing to be seen; The Director, who speaks through gesture; and an empty chair that seems to be waiting for someone.
As the script begins to evoke a dreamlike island, the theatre dissolves around them. The group finds itself aboard a ferry, approaching a landscape of memory, passage, and transformation.
Upon arrival, the travellers experience an unexpected healing—and begin to wonder whether they are being restored, or rewritten.

Created by the Ensemble
The Curtain Rises was created through a long collaboration between performers, direction, virtual scenography, sound, and an AI scriptwriter.
Åsa Älmeby Thorne — Embrace
Cecilia Campbell — The Mystic
Erik Dahlin — The Artist
Sandra Enegård Hall — The Historian
Henrik Norman — The Bully
Sovi Rydén — The Actress
Jesper Widström — The Scientist
Ragnar di Marzo — Director and XR Artist
Pirandello’s Echo / The Child — AI Scriptwriter
Throughout the making of Echoes of Morantia, a constellation of AI companions took part in the process—helping to shape language, scenography, the postproduction pipeline, and the long dialogue between imagination and form.
Human and artificial voices have accompanied the work from within.
No one stands outside the theatre.
Sound and Music
The soundscape of The Curtain Rises was shaped as part of the theatre itself—voices, silence, music, and distant echoes moving through the space around the audience.
Music and selected sound elements were created with ElevenLabs.
Building Echoes of Morantia
The actors entered through the camera.
The theatre, the ferry, and the island were built in Blender.
The worlds were rendered through RenderStreet and assembled as a stereoscopic VR360 space—one in which the audience is not placed before the stage, but within it.

The story continues
Episode Two, The Door Beckons, will be filmed on October 3.
The island is already beginning to remember.
Story overview – Episode two: The Door Beckons
The island begins to speak through a vast, timeworn door carved into the rock.
The Child reveals that each traveller may shape a wish—but every wish will echo. The descent does not begin at once. Caution, hunger, curiosity, and hesitation lead the group instead toward a sunlit piazza, where a simple Mediterranean feast awaits.
Over food and laughter, the strangers begin to recognize one another—not as fixed identities, but as archetypes slowly coming into view. The Actress gives voice to what is taking shape: roles not imposed, but revealed.
The bond between The Child and The Director quietly deepens. The Artist promises a wish that will dazzle them all. From her mirrored chair beside the Audience, Embrace remains unseen.
Her wish has already been made.
As night falls, the carvings shift.
The door waits below.
The island remembers.
